One day in Langhe with a Somm - Private wine tour

A relaxed, guided Wine Tour & Tasting at top rated producers. Wine Country at its best.

Experiencing Piemonte and the Langhe can change your life: the rolling hills, the medieval castles, the unbelievable quality of the wines and the amazing food scene can sometimes make you feel like you have just travelled to another dimension.

You will learn about the diversity of soils, the complexity of the wines and our winemaking culture. Great people, farmers, Sommeliers, winemakers will welcome you and help you understand what makes this place unique.

This “One day with a Somm” experience is normally designed to show you both Barolo and Barbaresco valley, in order to understand the geography, the different terroir and the wines. Our wine tour focuses on authenticity, tradition and the Piemontese cultural heritage.

The Wine Tour includes 2 winery visits and tastings, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, transportation and a Certified Sommelier as a guide for the day.

These are the wine areas we can explore together: Barolo, Barbaresco, Roero, Monferrato, Alta Langa (feel free to inquire for others).

This Wine Tour is all of the above and beyond, catered to your preference and personal taste.

Barolo and Barbaresco are two neighboring valleys located in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy. The region is famous for producing some of the world's most coveted and prestigious wines, made predominantly from the Nebbiolo grape.

Barolo is a small village located in the Langhe hills, and its vineyards surround it. The Barolo wine is produced in 11 municipalities in the Langhe, all in the province of Cuneo. The Barolo vineyards are divided into different communes, each with its own unique terroir. The different soils, exposures, and microclimates of the communes contribute to the diverse styles of Barolo wines. The Barolo wine is known for its complex aromas, including red fruit, spice, and floral notes, as well as its firm tannins, high acidity, and long aging potential.

Barbaresco, on the other hand, is a small village located to the northeast of Alba, and its vineyards are situated in three municipalities. The Barbaresco wine is also made from the Nebbiolo grape, but the wine is generally lighter and more delicate than Barolo, with more pronounced floral and herbal notes. The vineyards of Barbaresco are located at a higher altitude than those of Barolo, resulting in cooler temperatures and a longer growing season, which contributes to the wine's finesse and elegance.

Both Barolo and Barbaresco are deeply rooted in tradition, and the winemakers in the region take great pride in maintaining the authenticity of their wines. Many wineries in the region have been passed down through generations of families, and the winemaking techniques and practices have remained largely unchanged for centuries.

The Piemontese cultural heritage is also deeply intertwined with the region's wines. The region has a long history of winemaking, and the wines are an important part of the local culture and cuisine. The wines of Barolo and Barbaresco are often paired with traditional Piemontese dishes, such as braised meats, truffles, and hearty stews.

Overall, Barolo and Barbaresco are two of the most revered wine regions in the world, known for their exceptional quality and unique terroirs. The focus on authenticity, tradition, and cultural heritage make these wines truly special and worth experiencing for any wine enthusiast.

We founded Oneonthehill after graduating from the Italian School of Sommelier and working for some of the best wineries in Sonoma County and Napa Valley.

Oneonthehill todays boasts a team of young professionals: a handful of certified Sommelier and a bearded Chef will make your wine tour experience hard to forget.

Our wine tours combine expertise with a casual, very friendly atmosphere. Wine should not be intimidating!

The network of wineries is a direct result of the Wine Club selection, we constantly taste and meet local producer to scavenge the best and the most authentic.

Piemonte is full of hidden gems, and both the Wine Club and the wine tours are our way to sharing them with our guests and Community.

Have a look at the previously shipped section, in the Wine Club page, to get an idea of the wineries we work with.

Best. Wine. Experience. Ever.

This was the finest wine tour we have ever done, and possibly a couple of the finest days we have ever spent. We did one day in Barolo region and one day in Barbaresco region. On both days, Pierandrea orchestrated a custom-tailored experience to compare and contrast the differences in the terroir, the style of the individual winemaker, and the essence of wine. We came to this tour basically a novice, not really knowing a lot. We left with a deep appreciation of these wines and what they offer to the nose and the palette. Above and beyond all of that, Pierandre is the kindest and warmest individual you will ever meet. He truly cares about making the adventure very personal. During our journey, we shared stories about music, travel and life - isnt that what drinking wine together is all about?? If you are reading this, you are interested in discovering Nebbiolo, so simply stated....DO THIS!!!!
