Palladino

Palladino

Terrific tasting last week at Palladino in Serralunga d’Alba, right off the square with the beautiful terrace for those of you who have been lucky enough to visit.

It was one of the hottest days of the year and the appointment was at 3pm, but fortunately the cellar where Cappellano used to make his Barolo Chinato was nice and cool.

Palladino 2016 single vineyard Barolo are among the best I’ve had recently, showing great purity, elegance and power. The expression of the vineyard perfectly comes out through the wines: Parafada is extremely gentle and floral to be from Serralunga, while Ornato brings out all the mineral tones and that “almost salty” character typical of the area. Like most 2016, the wines are perfectly open and ready to be enjoyed, but show also great aging potential, which I am sure it will turn out to be a little bit of a dilemma for many wine lovers: to drink or not to drink? 🙃🍷

How long are you going to wait on your 2016 Barolo? I will not tell you when to drink it because I believe it’s a matter of taste, but here’s an advice: get some before it’s too late!
