Edward Steinberg’s book tells the fascinating story of Angelo Gaja, probably one of the most famous wine producers in the world, responsible for turning Barbaresco wine into a celebrity. At the same time, it follows the whole production of a single-vineyard bottle with great precision without being too technical.

During a recent visit to the winery I was lucky to try a bottle of Barbaresco from San Lorenzo, 1989, whose memory will probably remain with me for a very long time: powerful, elegant and incredibly complex. One of the best wine experiences of my entire career.
