2014 vintage

2014 vintage

2014 Barolo.

At 5 years and a half from the harvest, I am more and more convinced of the uniqueness of the 2014 vintage. Despite the not ideal weather conditions, some producers were able to “interpret the year” making very interesting wines. Cellar life might be slightly shorter, but they were immediately ready to drink and right now are showing their full potential. The best Barolo 2014 are elegant and very classic in style.

We had Cascina Fontana’s last night at the legendary Centro Storico in Serralunga d’Alba and we could not believe at the complexity it had reached after such a short time from the harvest. A great confirmation for our next Wine Club shipment.

I’ve learned to never trust wine critics opinion, mostly driven by press and publicity interests: a wise man once told me “always taste with your nose and your mouth, and think with your own head!”
