Cappellano 1970

Cappellano 1970

Wonder what a 50+ years old tastes like?

Well, first of all, with very old bottles it’s always a little like playing Russian Roulette. The bottles may be in the most pristine conditions, just like these three, but you never really know until you pull the cork.

This is an unconventional and maybe a little crazy concept, so bear with me: I always thought human beings got more metaphysical and abstract as they got older, less attached to their earthly form, getting ready to leave for a new adventure somewhere in the sky. The same exact thing happens to wine: there’s less substance, the body is weak and has almost consumed all its energy, but the nose is a slow collection of experiences, layered year after year. In addition to that, the fact that some incredible wines can live almost as long as a person makes this resemblance even more fascinating to me. What do you think?
