Giovanni Rosso, Vignarionda and more

Azienda Agricola Giovanni Rosso is a small, family-owned producer in Serralunga D’Alba, one of our favorite areas for the production of Barolo wines. Davide Rosso is an extremely knowledgable and talented winemaker who, after spending some time in Burgundy, decided to return to Langhe to express the full potential of his vineyards. At the time, like most producers in the area, their grapes were sold to larger wineries. Davide took charge of the whole operation in 2001, and with some of the best Barolo vineyards at hand he is now making incredible wines in his beautiful, sleek, brand new winery. « Wine should be a perfect copy of its Terroir », his style is impeccable: extremely clean, vertical wines, each vineyard is able to speak with its own voice starting from day one in the cellar.

The Langhe Nebbiolo is a beautiful 13,5% interpretation of the grape. Fresh, with very interesting aromatics and a fine structure. The Barolo DOCG is a blend of vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba and Castiglione Falletto which is able to combine the complexity of a single-cru wine with the freshness and the drinkability of a Langhe Nebbiolo: there is not a single barrique in the winery, all Barolo ages in 50hl large French oak barrels. The Serra vineyard lays on one of the oldest soil types in the Barolo area named the Lequio Formation, represented by an alternation of white marl and sand, famous for giving a restrained style and great austerity to the wines. In fact, the single vineyard bottle that we decided to select is characterized by a powerful and vivid nose, with lots of balsamic notes, very firm tannins and a long finish. A very classic old-style Barolo, with the elegance that only some of the best wine producers can achieve.

Their legendary Vigna Rionda wines are available only through allocation, put down your private order and we will make sure to keep some for you!
